Mockbeggar Plantation

Roper Street, Bonavista, 3 1/2 hours from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Imagine... it's just after World War II and debate is swirling around Newfoundland - will residents vote to become Canada's 10th province?

The Mockbeggar Plantation was the former residence of politician and Confederation advocate F. Gordon Bradley. Today, this site tells the story of life in Newfoundland in the 1930s and 1940s, when the issue of whether to join Canada or remain an independent nation was on everyone's lips.
