Cuckhold's Cove Road in Quidi Vidi Village, in the east end of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. How to get here.
Imagine... you're a soldier posted to a tiny gun battery on the edge of the Atlantic in the early 1800s...
Quidi Vidi Battery was part of a huge military complex that included Signal Hill, Fort Townshend, Fort William and Commissariat House. But this is the only place in St. John's where you can still breathe wood smoke and smell a stew over the hearth - where you can experience how the soldiers of St. John's actually lived.
Close your eyes... listen to the waves crashing below behind the crackling fire. Is that a whale in the distance?
You can drive and park, but this site is best visited on foot. Trails link this site to Signal Hill National Historic Site via Cuckhold's Cove Trail, and The East Coast Trail (Quidi Vidi Village to Logy Bay)
