Urban Sketching Workshop
June 27, 2026, 10am to 2pm
Join illustrator and urban sketcher Caroline Clarke for a workshop that invites participants to slow down, observe, and connect with place through sketchbook practice. Set in a unique heritage location, each workshop includes a guided tour of the site offering historical context and visual inspiration before participants settle in to draw. Workshop is free but requires pre-registration. To register please call the Cable Station at 709 583-2160 any day between 930am and 5pm. Participants can bring their own materials or use provided materials.

In 2026 Jake Thompson and his cast of puppets will be celebrating 10 years of professional performances both on stage and screen. NL Now Productions live shows are entertaining and engaging for audiences of all ages. Both young and old will be drawn to the fast paced high energy and colourful show. Even after the show finishes the fun keeps going with the option to have Puppeteer Jake Thompson stick around for up close and personal interactions with the puppets that are always a hit for the crowd. The puppets of NL Now can be seen weekly on the hit NTV program “NL Now” which has featured guests including Rick Mercer, Alan Doyle, Fred Penner, Hey Rosetta!, Mary Walsh, and over 200 more.

Memorial Day Ceremony
July 1, 2026 starting at 10:45am
On July 1 in St. John’s, the morning is dedicated to a solemn Memorial Day ceremony at 10:45 a.m. at the Newfoundland National War Memorial to honour the Royal Newfoundland Regiment’s sacrifice at Beaumont-Hamel. A parade begins at 9:50 a.m. at the Sergeants’ Memorial, with events including wreath-laying, “Ode to Newfoundland,” and the tomb of the unknown soldier.
