Coming Home: The Revitalization of the National War Memorial – NLAA Public Lecture
November 19, 2025 – 7pm
Matthew Mills and Tom Wright are partners at Mills & Wright Landscape Architecture, an award-winning practice working throughout Atlantic Canada. Their firm’s portfolio spans a wide range of project types, from trail systems and community master plans to school grounds, parks, and public spaces of all kinds.
At the heart of their work lies a simple belief: that Atlantic Canada’s distinctive cultural landscapes are worth celebrating, and that every place they design should reflect the character and spirit of the communities it serves.
In 2024, Mills & Wright led the multidisciplinary team behind the revitalization of Newfoundland and Labrador’s National War Memorial, a landmark project that included the repatriation of an Unknown Newfoundland Soldier from Northern France. The project has since been recognized regionally and nationally for its care, respect, and sensitivity in revitalizing this profoundly important space.
