Know Before You Go
Location: The Beothuk Interpretation Centre in the community of Boyd’s Cove can be reached by turning off Route 340 onto Southside Road and continuing for 2.2km – the road ends in the parking lot.
Parking: Free public parking with marked blue zones is available in a parking lot adjacent to the Centre
Opening Hours: Opening May 18, 9:30am – 5:00pm 7 days a week
Accessibility: The Beothuk Interpretation Centre entrance is ground level with an automatic pushbutton door. The Centre is all on one floor. Seating is available.
Washrooms: Male and female washrooms both with accessible stalls and baby change tables
Grounds: The trail to the archaeological site is approximately 1.5km and is wooded with some boardwalked areas and stairs. The Spirit Garden is accessed by a separate trail close to the building. The Spirit Garden trail has a wooden staircase. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the grounds.

Activities and Events
- The Spirit Garden is a short walk from the Centre and is dedicated to the memory of the Beothuk. Leave a token made out of materials available on site. Limited of one token per group.
- Join one of our interpreters for an introduction to the site or explore the site on your own
- Walk the wooded trail and imagine life in this area when the Beothuk thrived along this coast
- Along the 1.5km trail, look for “The Spirit of the Beothuk”, a sculpture by Gerald Squires
- Pause at one of the viewing decks overlooking the archaeological site and imagine what it would have looked like 300 years ago
- Pick up one of our Discovery Backpacks at the front desk to guide your family’s exploration of the site
- Picnic tables and blankets are available for you to enjoy the grounds
